First Link Up!

It’s Wednesday, and time for my very first link up post!

Thank to Jenn for always hosting “What I Ate Wednesdays”!

Since the day is half way done and I haven’t been taking food pics, I decided to just post a few recent summer eats I’ve been loving! I’m thinking next week I will try to do a full “What I Ate” post…but we shall see.

Anywho, here goes!

photo 1

Klondike Mrs. Field Chocolate Chip Cookie Sandwich. Classic summer treat. Amazing combo – doesn’t get much better.

photo 2

Clean, easy breakfast! I made a vlog about this one, so be sure to check it out!

photo 5

Love me a nice big, fresh cinnamon raisin bagel! Especially with peanut or almond butter, and a perfect banana!

photo 7

Cara Cara oranges are soooo good. And yes, I like to slice them up and eat them with a fork to keep my hands clean when I’m on the computer. No one likes a sticky keyboard!

photo 3

So. much. chocolate. I’m obsessed with Silk Pure Almond Dark Chocolate Almond Milk. And these Balance bars!

photo 4

I guess I like chocolate?

photo 6

You guys know I love Carvelanches! Last night was my first of the season, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint! Vanilla soft serve with oreos, chocolate crunchies, and rainbow sprinkles! No words.

~~~~~~~~~~
Well unfortunately that’s all the foodie pics I’ve taken since I’ve been home from college, but I plan to take many more this summer.
I’ve been planning a lot of fashion ideas for the blog, and I’m currently working on my biggest fashion post yet! Be sure to keep an eye out for that!
Hope you’re enjoying the day, and I will catch ya later!
Back in the Blogosphere + Too Many Pictures
good-day
How’s that for a little running motivation to get this post started?
~~~~~~~~~~

HI GUYS!!!!

I feel like I begin almost every post with “it’s been way too long!” But it totally has and I hate that this is the way it always is. That being said, it’s how it’s got to be until at least summer time.

I hope you all have been good and enjoying more daylight! It’s amazing how much happier the ‘longer’ days and somewhat ‘warmer’ weather (aka two days of above 50 degrees woohooo) has made me. And how much it distracts me from school work…uh oh.

Two weeks ago I had my spring break, so I have some pics from that, as well as tons of pictures from school after getting back from Christmas break (which was when my last post was…ahhh!)

Without further ado, here are some pics that I want to share with you (and erase from my phone since they’re taking up a ton of room…whoops!).

~~~~~~~~~~
These are insane. Buy them. Try them. You’ll love them.Screen Shot 2014-01-05 at 3.15.43 PM
Throwback to Christmas break. Miss this. Sweats all day.
photo 2
Another throwback. Like my nerdy slippers?
photo 4
Classic combo.
photo 3 copy
Panera “You Pick Two” for dinner at my grandma’s house. I would pick this everyday if I could.
photo 4
Dipping pear slices in greek yogurt is one of my favorite snacks.
Target, you just get me.
Cara cara oranges are perfect. (Yes, I did slice them and eat them with a fork to keep my hands clean so I could look at magazines.)
And so are giant mint oreo Carvelanches.
J.Crew phone case for my new (back in January) iPhone 5. Got it for 7 bucks. Bargain hunter.
Vanilla Chex tastes like sugar cookies. Just sayin.
20140114-194256.jpg
One of my all time favorite take-out meals when I’m home. Those sweet potato fries though.
20140114-194238.jpg
Has anyone else tried these new Special K Nourish bowls? They’re pretty good!
20140114-194340.jpg
Also pretty good? These popcorns. The kettle corn is my latest obsession.
Winter wardrobe = scarves and vests. And stripes. Always stripes.
If you’re ever in Boston and want unique pizza, go to Ottos Pizza.
Pizza 1: Butternut Squash, Ricotta & Cranberry. Pizza 2: Pulled Pork & Mango. Pizza 3: Eggplant, Ricotta & Basil. Pizza 4: Roasted Chicken, Caramelized Pears & Fontina Cheese. Pizza 1,2,3,4Heaven.
Dining hall, I (kinda) missed you. I guess.
20140126-154837.jpg
Back in January, I was sick for 2 weeks with flu like symptoms (I got the flu shot in October though). It was hell, but let me tell ya, vanilla froyo is a great sore throat remedy.
20140203-202728.jpg
First Thai food experience. This was when I was super sick so I got the Tom Yum soup. I actually loved it and it was perfect for a stuffy nose.
20140202-195659.jpg
Massive veggie burgers. You can’t really tell but it was ginormous.
20140212-210602.jpg
Pass the cheese, please.
20140224-215509.jpg
Long runs on tready, I actually do not dread thee.
20140224-215517.jpg
Try these. Like now.
20140224-215537.jpg20140224-215543.jpg20140224-215550.jpg
Fast forward to back at home for “spring” (aka 30 degree) break the first week of March. Some typical at home eats.
20140316-111540.jpg20140316-111532.jpg20140316-111558.jpg20140316-111752.jpg
We took my great aunt and grandma out to dinner. I decided to get something different, so I got tilapia. I also decided I do not like capers.
20140316-111550.jpg
A few J.Crew purchases.
20140316-111607.jpg
Nike Frees that were practically free. $28 at the outlet. Again, call me a bargain hunter.
20140316-111628.jpg
Eat fresh. With avocado.
20140316-111619.jpg
Eggs, fruit, and yogurt with a side of artsiness for breakfast.
20140316-111638.jpg
20140316-111649.jpg20140316-111658.jpg
Another long run on the treadmill.
20140316-111709.jpg
Delish.
20140316-111800.jpg
Also delish.
20140316-111818.jpg
I’ve been guzzling down this 32 oz baby multiple times a day. Water for the win!
20140316-111722.jpg
Back at school- goat cheese and grilled veggie flatbread sammy and veggie soup. Not too shabby.
20140316-111900.jpg
Me and one of my roommates. Well, half of her face anyway. Still want to protect my friends/family’s privacy – at least for now!
~~~~~~~~~~

Well, wasn’t that quite the hefty photo dump?! Random thoughts and pics on a Sunday gets the week off to a good start, eh?

Hopefully I will be making a visit back to my little neck of the woods in the blogosphere again soon, but as always, who knows. I’ll be sure to pop back in as soon as I find the time (and have more fun pics!).

Have a great last few days of winter, and enjoy the start of SPRING!! It’s almost here – we can do it!

~~~~~~~~~~
A few questions for you:
  • What are some of your recent obsessions? Fun snacks, fitness routines, fashion trends?
  • What are you most looking forward to about Spring?!
{Kinda Sorta Not Really} Wordless Wednesday
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
I hope everyone had a fantastic holiday! Mine was amazing, and I hope yours was also full of relaxation, family time, fun with friends, fabulous food, and some fitness thrown in there, too!
I’m still on break for the next two weeks, but I’m definitely feeling the after Christmas (and New Years Eve) blues. I took a decent amount of photos, so I thought what better way to beat those blues than a kinda sorta not really “wordless Wednesday” recap!
Questions of the day:
  1. How were your holidays?
  2. What are your goals for 2014?
  3. Any post requests?
Home for the Holidays
WAHOOOOOOOOOOOO!
12e0
I’m finally home for Christmas! Finals are done! I survived!
Can you tell I’m happy?
Well, with finals behind me and Christmas and a three week break ahead of me, I am so so happy.
I mean, how could I not be when I get to stare at my tree every night, instead of at the pages of a text book or endless notes and essays?
photo 3
I’m just relaxing at the moment (I’ve been waiting for this for so long), so I figured it’s the perfect time to check in on here.
~~~~~~~~~~

The past few weeks were pretty crazy with studying and essay writing galore, so my days pretty much consisted of: wake up around 8:30, workout (I ran almost every day since it was the perfect stress release/ energizing activity for me, but I did a few intense room workouts here and there to mix it up). Then I would eat breakfast, shower, and get to work.

photo

We decked out our common room, which actually made it feel slightly more like Christmas time, as opposed to just endless hours spent in a timeless studying bubble.

My friends and I went stir crazy by the second study day. There were a few too many weird photos and videos taken that I probably should not share.

photo

Besides allowing our inner maniacs out in the common room, we attempted to stay sane by stuffing our faces with some Christmasy treats.

They may not have made us act normal, but they definitely satisfied our sweet tooths!

We also got totally distracted by this app…

photo 4

HA. Just kidding!

My last school meal for the year. Salmon, sweet potato, salad. See ya in 2014, dining hall!

photo 1

~~~~~~~~~~
Now that I’m home, I get to eat homemade meals, go out to dinner, hang with the fam and my high school friends, and RELAX. Oh, and celebrate CHRISTMAS!
Insert random fun video here for no reason:
Homemade version of the same dining hall meal… Mango salsa covered salmon, sweet potato with cinnamon, whole wheat roll, roasted veggies. I helped myself to seconds, of course.
photo 2
Pasta with kielbasa and salad.
photo 1
Can I just say that we have so many desserts at my house…My mom made a few batches of oatmeal cookies, and she went to a cookie swap, and both my parents got tons of candies and baked goods from coworkers and friends.
PLUS there will be even more after Christmas since we’ll be baking and some of our guests will bring some, too. Hey, I’m not complaining!
On my first night home, I was faced with a tough decision about which dessert to choose. I went with caramel ice cream and a chocolate covered gingerbread cookie.
photo 4
Good choice.
photo 2 copy
At my friends house, we had delicious cake batter and cookie monster ice cream from a local ice cream shop that one of my friends works at. I didn’t snap a photo of it unfortunately, but let me tell ya, it was amazing.
Last night, the fam and I went to dinner at one of my favorite restaurants, and I got my usual – a veggie hummus and avocado wrap with sweet potato fries. Demolished that plate. Ate every single bite.
photo 1 copy
After digesting that for a while, I spent the night in front of my beautiful Christmas tree, talking to my parents while enjoying half a hot cocoa packet mixed into plain greek yogurt (so good and creamy – try it!) and then sipping the rest stirred into hot water.
photo 2
photo 4
It’s times like these that I look forward to every year. The moments spent all cozy and warm, surrounded by family and friends, enjoying delicious food, and not wanting to be anywhere else.
This is absolutely my favorite time of year, and looking forward to being home and getting to do all of my favorite things is what gets me through the stress and craziness of finals.
Now that I’m home, enjoying every minute spent exactly where I want to be, I could not be happier.
I hope you are feeling the exact same way.
photo 3
Happy holidays!
I Hope You Haven’t Forgotten
It’s been so long, I hope you haven’t forgotten about little old me!
I’ve missed you guys! I’ve been crazy busy the past few weeks. Luckily this week I get to go home on Tuesday for THANKSGIVING!!
I’m SO excited. I get to 1) Go HOME. 2) See my family. 3) See some high school friends I haven’t seen since August. 4) Eat amazing food. 5) Get a little break from school before finals (ahhh). 6) CHRISTMAS IS COMING.
Keep_Calm_Christmas_Memes
Fun fact: Nothing makes me happier than anything related to Christmas. The music. The baking. The snow. The cozy nights. The comfy clothes. The hot chocolate. The tree. The spirit. The memories. The list goes on and on and on. December is probably my favorite time of year. (Minus the finals).
Since last week I had a ton of papers and presentations, this little 2 day week is just a regular week, aka no big things due! THAT means I could get on here today and catch up with you 🙂
So except for the insane amount of work, November has been a blast! Lots of sporting events (football, hockey, basketball – yay!), and lots of fun with my friends!
Workouts
Lately I’ve been varying it up a lot which I love.
Running when it’s nice out (~50 degrees is my favorite running temp ever). Some days are longer runs, other days are shorter runs followed by arms or abs or a little total body workout.
photo
I’ve been going to the gym on days I don’t feel like running or it’s too cold out (but I’ve been trying to take advantage of the not yet frigid or snowy weather by going for runs outside as much as I can since I know once the snow comes, I’ll be forced to hit the gym all the time). I usually bike or elliptical or a combo of both while I’m there. When I bike I like to do a variation of this workout.
12d762b99058d91564a7b924b230c278
Recently I’ve also been into ending a cardio workout with some planks. I like to do 1 minute each of some (or all) of these (in no particular order) –
  • front elbow planks
  • front planks with leg raises
  • side planks
  • side planks with one leg raised
  • side plank twists
  • side planks, lowering and raising body
  • straight arm side star planks
  • front shoulder taps
One day I’ll have to create a little illustration of my plank circuit workout. For now, here’s a good little plank reference link.
Greatist – HOW TO DO THE PERFECT PLANK.
I’ve also been doing lots of awesome indoor room workouts, which I know I’ll be doing even more of once the snow and freezing weather begin.
Outfits
I’ve been sporting cloth headbands a lot lately. My hair gets super dry and limp in the winter, but I like to wear it down because it can’t as easily in the more humid months. The cloth headbands give it some pizzaz and a little volume (or so I like to think anyway).
I’ve also worn my navy polka dotted Keds quite a bit and have received a ton of compliments. I love these shoes because they can really be worn in any season, they’re comfy, they go with a ton of different outfits, and they’re freaking adorable.
I’ve also broken out my Sperry boots (I got mine from J.Crew a few years ago). I love these things and wear them all the time in the winter.
As you can probably tell from these few pictures, I’m kind of obsessed with scarves. I have a ton, and am always collecting more. They keep me warm plus they complete any outfit!
~~~~~~~~~~

I know that was a loaded post, but I felt like I needed to get on here to update you while I had the time! We all know once finals begin (aka in about 2 weeks…gulp) I won’t have much time to spare.

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the update and that you have a fabulous Thanksgiving and start to the holiday season!!!

Hopefully you get to be with family & friends, eat delicious food, make a little time for fitness, and most importantly – have some FUN!!

Catch ya later 🙂

It’s Been A While…

Hey guys!

It’s been a while, hasn’t it?

I’ve been suuuper busy. My weeks have been jam packed with midterms, papers, internship work, study abroad research, health coaching, football and hockey games, awesome runs in the perfect Fall weather, quality time with my friends, a brief visit home, the list goes on…

Besides the lack of sleep, it’s been good!

I’m loving the fact that it’s Fall! The leaves are gorgeous and the temperatures are PERFECT. Plus, apple and pumpkin flavored everything doesn’t hurt! 😉

I don’t have much time this morning, but I wanted to share some pics that have been accumulating on my phone!

Enjoy 🙂

Throwin’ it back to…

Yes, it’s Thursday. And yes, I’m blogging. Say what?

I know, I can’t believe I’m actually on here today (should be reading Plato’s Republic right now…) but I’m just way too excited to share something with you guys!

As soon as I went on Instagram today, I was immediately reminded that today is ‘Throw Back Thursday’.

So, I’m going to give this quick blog a little #tbt action.

~~~~~~~~~~
Today, I’m throwin’ it back to that time (who care if it was just yesterday…) when
Shay made my day!
That’s right…Shay Carl, the man behind the Shaytards (as well as many other) YouTube channel, said hi to little old ME!!
Screen Shot 2013-09-26 at 2.54.25 PM
Amanda was filming with him on Tuesday for a ShayLoss shoot, and she was SO nice by telling him how big of a dork fan I am!!
See him waving?! He’s waving to me!! AHHHHHHHHHHH!
You can watch the entire video here! (My big claim to fame happens at 11:00).
I freaked out for a good 10 minutes by myself before I showed all my roommates and texted the video to some of my friends.
You made my day, Shay!
~~~~~~~~~~

Anyway, that’s all I got for ya today.

Time to read Plato then work on a speech and essays galore! Oh how I love college 😉

Functional & Fashionable?! Yes Please!

Hey guys!

Once again, I’m finding that the only time I really have to get on here is Friday afternoons once I’m done with classes, my workout, and lunch. It stinks I can only get on here once a week lately, but hey, I guess that’s better than nothing, right?

Anyway, I have a slightly different sort of post for ya this week!

Through Amanda Russell, I was lucky enough to be contacted by Julia Gabella, the founder of Bandtz, “the first line of hair ties that are elegant enough to double as jewelry… the perfect solution for fitness fashionistas!”

I’m kind of obsessed with the ‘dotted’ collection and have worn a gray one in my hair for the past few days. It held my fine, slippery hair through two full days of classes, and two windy runs! I was surprised how well it kept my ponytail in – it didn’t slide like most elastics do.

I gave a couple to some of my roommates and so far, so good!

photo 1 photo 3

How cute does that look?

Not only are these hair ties super cute in your hair and on your wrist, they really do work. No matter what texture your hair is, they stay in place all day long. My friend (pictured above) has thick, straight hair and she had just as positive results as I did with my thin, wavier hair.

They cost 15 dollars per pack of three… Yes, I would consider that a bit pricey for hair ties, but honestly I have to say they’re worth it. I struggle finding elastics that don’t slide out, but don’t leave a kink in my hair, either.

Also, I don’t know about you, but I feel ‘naked’ when I don’t have one on my wrist, but if I’m wearing a nice outfit or at a formal event, wearing an ugly elastic doesn’t exactly look right. That’s why I love these – because they actually enhance an outfit, rather than take away from it.

Screen Shot 2013-09-20 at 2.54.27 PM

Seriously though, what’s better than something that’s not only functional, but fashionable, too?

They’re a perfect gift for a fitness fanatic / fashion forward friend, or just a little treat for yourself!

Check out the website and order some today! You will not be disappointed.
