New and Exciting

Hey hey! I’m so excited to finally have a few free minutes to check in with you all.

My days have been crazy between moving in Tuesday and full days of Health Coach training Wednesday, Thursday, and today.

But, training is finally over and…

I’m officially a CERTIFIED HEALTH COACH!!

Woohoooooo!

Now that the long days of training are behind me, I can give presentations to my peers about nutrition, and do iHP’s (aka individual health plans aka one-on-one meetings with students).

Talk about new and exciting! 🙂

Speaking of exciting, I’ve now got a three day weekend to relax, hang out with my roommates and friends, go to the first football game, head into the city, and enjoy my last few days of freedom before classes begin on Tuesday (womp womp…).

~~~~~~~~~~
Since I was so busy I wasn’t able to take many (or really any) pics, but I do have a few of the lunches we ate during training.
Portobello mushroom and veggie sammy with fruit and more veggies. Tasted good but I was starving about 20 minutes later…so I dove into the bag of almonds and walnuts I had packed.
Margarita pizza on whole grain crust with sun dried tomato and cranberry salad. Actually really good. I love me some sun dried tomatoes.
Last night I was starved after a sweaty workout in the gym (which was well needed after sitting for a full 8 hours), and my friends and I didn’t want to wait in line for hot food, so we grabbed some sandwiches and soup. Boy did that turkey and cheese sammy and vegetarian bean chili hit the spot.
An hour or so after dinner we grabbed a bit of froyo which was amazing after not having any sweets since I left home… (the dining halls had limited menus the first few days since most people hadn’t moved in yet, and I made sure all the meals and snacks that I ate would fill me up and offer me the key nutrients I needed to keep me running through the long days I had. But oh my gosh did I miss my daily treat(s) ;)).
Melted deliciousness.
Melted deliciousness.
One thing that got me through the hectic days was taking 45 minutes to workout when I got back from training. As tired as I was mentally, my body just wanted to move! So I went on a 6 mile run one day, hit the gym for a spinning workout followed by some plank/core work, and then a little over 6 mile run today. Man did it feel good to sweat it out!
~~~~~~~~~~

I gotta run to dinner soon but I did want to quickly mention something about my new internship! I’m actually not working as an intern for GalTime.com right now just because I needed some time to get adjusted to school and health coaching, and wanted to try some other things. It was an awesome opportunity and I learned SO much.

A little over a week ago I was hired as an intern for Amanda Russell, the fabulous fitness guru and creator of FitStrongandSexy.com.

I have the honor to work with Amanda, and I am absolutely loving it. It’s definitely a lot of work to take on, especially right now with a whole new school year about to begin and becoming a health coach, but it was an opportunity that I just could not pass up.

Some of my duties include working on the weekly newsletter, working on blogs, adding recipes, and other back-end and social media work.

I’m super excited (do I say that too much…?) because I’m finding that the things I learned in my old internship, all my new health coach knowledge, my own blogging, and my new internship are overlapping and teaching me more that I ever thought possible.

If you couldn’t tell I’m super passionate about all things health/fitness/food/fashion related, and writing is one of my absolute favorite things to do.

All the work I did this summer and will continue to do (on top of all my work for my classes…yikes!) brings me so much joy. I know it sounds cheesy and sappy, but it’s true!

Let’s hope I can enjoy alllll my school work as much as I enjoy all of this. (Or maybe even just half as much…….?). 😉

~~~~~~~~~~
Alright, time to head out. Not sure when I’ll be able to get on here next but in the mean time, enjoy your long weekend!!
~~~~~~~~~~

Questions of the day:

  • What’s something ‘work related’ that brings you joy?
  • Do you have any fun plans for the long weekend?!

I’d love to hear from ya!

PS – A big thank you to all of you who commented on my posts and started following me on WordPress and Bloglovin‘ (as well as Pinterest and Twitter)! It means so much to me.

You guys rock. 🙂

These are a few of my favorite…

As I’ve mentioned before, I’m currently an intern for GalTime.com, an online magazine for women. I got this internship through my school and I am lovin’ it!

I’m a “virtual” intern, aka I work from home on my computer, communicating via phone calls and emails with my supervisor. Though I’m not getting paid and don’t really have any coworkers, I’m actually really enjoying it.

I work on social media and back end content management systems, as well as research trending topics. Fingers crossed I’ll get to do some writing, too! Some of the work can be a little tedious and dull (checking boxes, formatting, and adding links) but I’m learning so much and really getting to see how an online magazine operates. There’s so much more to it than I ever would have thought!

On the topic of online magazines, I thought I might share a few of my favorite websites with you guys.

The ones I visit most frequently are:

-Social Media

-Entertainment

-Fitness

-Blogs

-Shopping

There are so many more online magazines, celeb Twitter pages, lifestyle blogs, stores, and more that I visit, but these are my favorites.

And So It Begins

I guess interning for an online magazine was the straw that broke the camels back.

No, I’m not badmouthing my unpaid internship. Surprisingly, I have zero reason to complain about it. Actually, it’s the reason I’m wide awake, attempting to create the blog I’ve been contemplating making for over a year now.

I’ve been a fitness/fashion/food/entertainment industry junkie since before high school. Hanging out with friends, shopping online and at the mall, trying new recipes, flipping through fashion magazines (plus the occasional tabloid or two), and reading my favorite lifestyle blogs took up the majority of my very little free time in high school. I barely had time to sleep as I juggled hours of homework and cross country/track practices, but somehow I always managed to spend time with my friends, as well as some quality ‘me’ time. A lot of my alone time was spent on my favorite blogs (shout-out to Peanut Butter Fingers, Sweet Tooth Sweet Life, and The Fitnessista, the three that started my obsession and have remained my all time faves).

I’ve never considered myself to be outspoken or one to say out loud everything that’s on my mind to people other than my friends. That’s where writing comes in to play. I have always loved to write, whether it be poetry or stream of conscience journaling or AP English essays (well maybe not those…). Whatever the style we were assigned in school, once I got over the initial pain of actually starting, I somehow found myself getting lost in my thoughts, suddenly staring at a full page of words. Once I got to college where I was not forced to do as much writing as I was in my AP classes, I still found myself missing that feeling of total catharsis that you reach once you let your thoughts out on paper.

I'm definitely not always shy...
I may not be outspoken…but I am definitely weird…

My friends are the ones I talk to about everything- from the latest gossip to our love lives to crazy stories to embarrassing moments to the meaning of life to reminiscing about the good ol’ days, and everything in between.

My goal in creating this blog, is to (attempt to) say what comes to my mind as freely and openly as I do to my friends right here for you (whoever you may be…if anyone besides me ever reads this…).

So, as cheesy as these first words may have sounded, I had to start somewhere.

Aaand I have to end somewhere too…and that somewhere should probably be here. At two in the morning…
