OOTD – Dress Up a Sundress (Work Day 2)

Happy Monday! How was your weekend?

Mine was great! Lots of fun with friends and fam, a couple awesome workouts, good food (hopefully a WIAW post soon!), and bright, sunshiny days 🙂

I worked on Sunday (I talk about it in the mini vlog below), and as I said I would try to do – here is an “OOTD” for my second day of work!

The reason I point to my glasses and shake my head in the video is because I filmed that part (and took the following pics) the night before when I planned the outfit (and had no make up and my glasses on). The part when I’m not wearing glasses is right before I left on Sunday, and obviously the car part is after work.

Oh, and the little clip at the very end is from a sunny Sunday walk through a farm in my town! So beautiful, right?

Anyway, I’ve already shown most of the parts of this outfit in this post, but here are the links you can check out if you’re interested!

  • Navy Old Navy blazer.
  • White Old Navy sundress (Not available online, but somewhat similar to this maxi dress version).
  • Nordstrom elastic belt sort of similar to this one (I think I got mine 2 years ago, so I couldn’t find a link to the exact one – mine is thinner and all brown, but this is the closest I could find).
  • St. Christopher necklace (My mom ordered mine online a few years ago).
  • Gap wedges. I ended up wearing flat American Eagle sandals. (Again, I got mine ~2 years ago, so I can’t find the exact link).

Sarcastic snapchats (I didn’t actually mind working yesterday, just felt like being sassy – shocker)!

Home from work selfie! My summer freckles are coming in…

photo 5

Still working on the maxi skirt fashion post, and I’m thinking I will do another WIAW this week if I have enough foodie pics! And an OOTD for the next time I work, as well 🙂

That’s it for today, but I will talk to ya soon!

Fashion Friday: OOTD – First Day of Work!

Happy Friday!!!

Today I’m sharing with you my first “OOTD” aka “outfit of the day”!

This is what I wore to my first day of work, which was 8 hours of training.

I also trimmed my hair about 4 inches so the split ends are gone!! For some reason it looks a little uneven in photos. I miss the length and my hair takes forever to grow, but I needed to clean it up a bit.

photo 2

Anywho, I made a short vlog. Sorry the music is a tad loud, and that I look like I have no shirt on in the first half…I’m wearing a cami, which I do show at one point, so don’t get the wrong idea ;).

Here goes!

The full ensemble:

photo 1

Target Merona Emily Sandals in Navy

photo 2

Bath & Body Works Cherry Blossom Body Splash

photo 3

Relic Rose Gold Watch (similar to this one), and Alex and Ani Bracelets (silver “L” similar to this one), gold “BC“, silver “endless knot“, rafaelian silver “Jordan Beaded Bangle“)

photo 4

Gap Always Skinny Jeans (not sure what this color is called, I got them about two years ago)

photo 5

J.Crew button-down (similar to this one)

photo 6

J. Crew woven belt in navy (sort of similar to this one)

photo 7

Old Navy gold necklace (not available online), Nordstrom Stone Stud Earrings (both are featured in my massive mall haul post!). And unfortunately, I’m not sure where the white dotted studs are from.

During work selfie (in the stock room, but I cropped out the shelves just for privacy reasons!)…

Well, I hope you enjoyed this OOTD from Tuesday!

Get ready for more posts like this! I’m going to attempt to do these every day I work, but sometimes it gets a little stressful getting out the door in time. I’ll do my best, though 🙂

Let me know if you guys like OOTD posts, and if you like having all the links to the items I wear!

I’m still working on that fashion post for the maxi skirt. I have all the outfit pics taken and ready to go, but I still need to take a few photos in the whole get-up. Hopefully it’ll be all set and ready to post within a week.

Oh and some exciting news – After trying on 11 dresses, I finally found one I love. I brought it to the tailor today since the shoulders are way too big (I was shrugging in the pics so it looks like it fits here).

photo 12photo 14

I think I’m going to wear these heels, but I need to figure out my jewelry. I’m torn about this necklace – thoughts? I love it but I’m not sure if it’s too much and hides the gorgeous neckline. I have to see what I can find, but I’ll either wear a necklace and small stud earrings, or no necklace and bigger dangly earrings.

Phew – please excuse the rambles!

I hope you all had a great week, and that you have a fabulous, summery weekend! I cannot believe it’s already (almost) JUNE!!

Massive Mall Haul

Well hello again, and happy Thursday!

Today I decided to do my very first “Thinking Out Loud” link up post!

Thinking-Out-Loud2

I absolutely LOVE reading what Amanda, and all the other link-ups have to say each and every week.  I’ve done quite a few other random thought posts (aka rambles about the glory days, life, throw back thursdays, hoping you haven’t forgotten, being back in the blogosphere, regrets, a breakfast vlog, and sunburns – to name a few), but today I decided to link up!

While this isn’t exactly random rambles, it is some recent thoughts and things I want to share with you guys!

So, without further ado, here is my “thinking out loud” about my latest shopping sprees!

A few weeks ago, I went to the mall in search for a few “essentials”. Let’s just say, I ended up with a whole lot more than my summer staples.

Then, this past Memorial Day Weekend, my mom and I ventured out to get a few pieces for my new job at J.Crew!

Here’s the low down on what I got!

Old Navy

  • Gold necklace. This was part of my first day of work outfit – stay tuned for that post!

photo

  • Gold bangle. I love that this has elastic in it so it actually fits my tiny wrist – but you would never know it’s stretchy!

photo

  • Nude block-heel sandalsI may wear these to my cousins wedding (that I’m doing a reading at) in two weeks! It all depends on my dress. I’ve ordered and tried at least 10 dresses by now, and not one fits me well! Most are too long and have lacy / intricate edges that would be hard to hem. So wish me luck – I’ll let ya know what I end up wearing!

Screen Shot 2014-05-28 at 10.10.17 PM

Screen Shot 2014-05-28 at 10.18.31 PM

  • Drapey tuxedo pantsI need some courage to wear these, but I love how comfy (you know me, I’m a leggings girl), yet chic they are!

Screen Shot 2014-05-28 at 10.20.26 PM

  • Patterned 3/4 sleeve shirt in blue windowpane plaid. Again, another thing I can wear to work (tucked in with a blazer), or anywhere, really!

Screen Shot 2014-05-28 at 10.41.53 PM

  • Fit & flare ponte-tank dressI ordered this in “electric youth” and “absolute blue” too! It fits me like a glove and can be dressed up or down depending on accessories / layering pieces. LOVE.

Screen Shot 2014-05-28 at 10.24.00 PM

  • White dress. I cannot wait to wear this on vacation with sandals, OR under a navy blazer! It’s so versatile – either a fun, lightweight sundress, OR part of a fashionable businesswoman ensemble!

photo

  • Navy ponte-knit blazerThrowing this on can dress up a knit tee, laid back dress, or casual pants, without looking like you’re trying too hard! I am alllll about that.

Screen Shot 2014-05-28 at 10.26.01 PM

Forever 21

  • Bodycon dress. Sorry for the awful pic! By the way, this looks more scandalous in the photo. It’s actually just the right length and tight-ness that it doesn’t look slutty whatsoever. And trust me, that’s a good thing, ladies…

photo 1 photo 2

  • Floral tank. Perfect for a hot summer day with white or denim shorts, or a high waisted skirt.

photo 3

  • Long gold necklace. This will be featured later on in my fashion post to come!
  • Blue tunic (video below). I intended to make this short video into a longer vlog, but I waited too long to edit and upload, so what I said before and after this footage is no longer relevant. I did my best to cut it, but my apologies about the abrupt start and end!
  • Multicolored scarf (video below).

Nordstrom

  • This statement necklace. Depending on what I end up choosing to wear to the wedding, this necklace may just be the finishing touch! We shall see…

Screen Shot 2014-05-28 at 10.04.16 PM

  • These studs. Somehow I lost one of my tiny ‘diamond’ studs at school, so I finally found a cheap pair to replace them!

Gap

Screen Shot 2014-05-28 at 10.37.38 PM

  • These wedges in brown. Unfortunately, they don’t appear to be available online anymore. I’ve been looking for classic brown wedges for about a year now, so once I spotted these, I couldn’t resist!

photo

  • A dark wash chambray blazer similar to this oneThe one I got has a white cuff with tiny navy stars that look like polkadots. So cute!

8254498_fpx.tif

J.Crew:

  • Factory airspun baseball sweater in solid tan. I couldn’t find the exact one I got online (and it’s currently in the wash so I couldn’t take a picture), but it’s super loose, especially in the neckline which I love for a laid-back look for summer.

Screen Shot 2014-05-28 at 10.54.53 PM

  • Factory keating boy blazer in linen. Yes, I know, another blazer! But all three that I got can be worn so many different ways, and since they’re classic pieces, I can wear them for years to come!

photo

  • Factory ponte peplum top in stripe. As you may know from previous posts, I love stripes. And, I also love peplums, so I could not say no to this. I’m already dreaming of all the ways I can wear it…

Screen Shot 2014-05-28 at 11.01.22 PM Screen Shot 2014-05-28 at 11.01.28 PM

And that’s all she wrote! As you can tell, it was quite a hefty haul (well, it wasn’t allll purchased at once). Now I’m all set for summer and my new job!

I have two exciting posts coming your way – a fashion post (on that amazing GAP maxi skirt!) and my first day of work OOTD vlog!

Oh, and be sure to check out the update vlog I posted yesterday. It’s from last week, but I’d love to get some feedback!

Thanks to Amanda for hosting this link up, as always!

Have a great rest of the week, and I will talk to ya shortly!

First Link Up!

It’s Wednesday, and time for my very first link up post!

Thank to Jenn for always hosting “What I Ate Wednesdays”!

Since the day is half way done and I haven’t been taking food pics, I decided to just post a few recent summer eats I’ve been loving! I’m thinking next week I will try to do a full “What I Ate” post…but we shall see.

Anywho, here goes!

photo 1

Klondike Mrs. Field Chocolate Chip Cookie Sandwich. Classic summer treat. Amazing combo – doesn’t get much better.

photo 2

Clean, easy breakfast! I made a vlog about this one, so be sure to check it out!

photo 5

Love me a nice big, fresh cinnamon raisin bagel! Especially with peanut or almond butter, and a perfect banana!

photo 7

Cara Cara oranges are soooo good. And yes, I like to slice them up and eat them with a fork to keep my hands clean when I’m on the computer. No one likes a sticky keyboard!

photo 3

So. much. chocolate. I’m obsessed with Silk Pure Almond Dark Chocolate Almond Milk. And these Balance bars!

photo 4

I guess I like chocolate?

photo 6

You guys know I love Carvelanches! Last night was my first of the season, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint! Vanilla soft serve with oreos, chocolate crunchies, and rainbow sprinkles! No words.

~~~~~~~~~~
Well unfortunately that’s all the foodie pics I’ve taken since I’ve been home from college, but I plan to take many more this summer.
I’ve been planning a lot of fashion ideas for the blog, and I’m currently working on my biggest fashion post yet! Be sure to keep an eye out for that!
photo 8
 ~~~~~~~~~~

Hope you’re enjoying the day, and I will catch ya later!

I Hope You Haven’t Forgotten

It’s been so long, I hope you haven’t forgotten about little old me!

I’ve missed you guys! I’ve been crazy busy the past few weeks. Luckily this week I get to go home on Tuesday for THANKSGIVING!!

I’m SO excited. I get to 1) Go HOME. 2) See my family. 3) See some high school friends I haven’t seen since August. 4) Eat amazing food. 5) Get a little break from school before finals (ahhh). 6) CHRISTMAS IS COMING.

Keep_Calm_Christmas_Memes

Fun fact: Nothing makes me happier than anything related to Christmas. The music. The baking. The snow. The cozy nights. The comfy clothes. The hot chocolate. The tree. The spirit. The memories. The list goes on and on and on. December is probably my favorite time of year. (Minus the finals).

Since last week I had a ton of papers and presentations, this little 2 day week is just a regular week, aka no big things due! THAT means I could get on here today and catch up with you 🙂

So except for the insane amount of work, November has been a blast! Lots of sporting events (football, hockey, basketball – yay!), and lots of fun with my friends!

Recent Eats

The world’s largest apple.

photo 1

Delicious dinner at Union Street.

photo 2

I got the Gorgonzola Pear Turkey burger. Let’s just say fig jam = heaven.

photo 3

Froyo at Yogurtland. I’ve never been to this place before but oh my gosh it was amazing. I got Banana Bread, Pumpkin Pie, Oatmeal Cookie, and Apple Cider. Fall in a cup.

photo 4

Typical school dinner- chicken with pesto, quinoa salad, beet salad, veggies.

photo 1

Another typical dining hall meal- salmon and roasted veggies (with a side of Pop Chips that were not photographed).

photo 1

Yes college kids – delivery froyo does exist. Angora Cafe.

Workouts

Lately I’ve been varying it up a lot which I love.

Running when it’s nice out (~50 degrees is my favorite running temp ever). Some days are longer runs, other days are shorter runs followed by arms or abs or a little total body workout.

photo

I’ve been going to the gym on days I don’t feel like running or it’s too cold out (but I’ve been trying to take advantage of the not yet frigid or snowy weather by going for runs outside as much as I can since I know once the snow comes, I’ll be forced to hit the gym all the time). I usually bike or elliptical or a combo of both while I’m there. When I bike I like to do a variation of this workout.

12d762b99058d91564a7b924b230c278

Recently I’ve also been into ending a cardio workout with some planks. I like to do 1 minute each of some (or all) of these (in no particular order) –

  • front elbow planks
  • front planks with leg raises
  • side planks
  • side planks with one leg raised
  • side plank twists
  • side planks, lowering and raising body
  • straight arm side star planks
  • front shoulder taps

One day I’ll have to create a little illustration of my plank circuit workout. For now, here’s a good little plank reference link.

Greatist – HOW TO DO THE PERFECT PLANK.

I’ve also been doing lots of awesome indoor room workouts, which I know I’ll be doing even more of once the snow and freezing weather begin.

I’ve been sporting cloth headbands a lot lately. My hair gets super dry and limp in the winter, but I like to wear it down because it can’t as easily in the more humid months. The cloth headbands give it some pizzaz and a little volume (or so I like to think anyway).

I’ve also worn my navy polka dotted Keds quite a bit and have received a ton of compliments. I love these shoes because they can really be worn in any season, they’re comfy, they go with a ton of different outfits, and they’re freaking adorable.

I’ve also broken out my Sperry boots (I got mine from J.Crew a few years ago). I love these things and wear them all the time in the winter.

As you can probably tell from these few pictures, I’m kind of obsessed with scarves. I have a ton, and am always collecting more. They keep me warm plus they complete any outfit!

~~~~~~~~~~
I know that was a loaded post, but I felt like I needed to get on here to update you while I had the time! We all know once finals begin (aka in about 2 weeks…gulp) I won’t have much time to spare.
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the update and that you have a fabulous Thanksgiving and start to the holiday season!!!
Hopefully you get to be with family & friends, eat delicious food, make a little time for fitness, and most importantly – have some FUN!!
Catch ya later 🙂
Functional & Fashionable?! Yes Please!
Hey guys!
Once again, I’m finding that the only time I really have to get on here is Friday afternoons once I’m done with classes, my workout, and lunch. It stinks I can only get on here once a week lately, but hey, I guess that’s better than nothing, right?
Anyway, I have a slightly different sort of post for ya this week!
Through Amanda Russell, I was lucky enough to be contacted by Julia Gabella, the founder of Bandtz, “the first line of hair ties that are elegant enough to double as jewelry… the perfect solution for fitness fashionistas!”
photo 4
I’m kind of obsessed with the ‘dotted’ collection and have worn a gray one in my hair for the past few days. It held my fine, slippery hair through two full days of classes, and two windy runs! I was surprised how well it kept my ponytail in – it didn’t slide like most elastics do.
I gave a couple to some of my roommates and so far, so good!
photo 1 photo 3
How cute does that look?
Not only are these hair ties super cute in your hair and on your wrist, they really do work. No matter what texture your hair is, they stay in place all day long. My friend (pictured above) has thick, straight hair and she had just as positive results as I did with my thin, wavier hair.
They cost 15 dollars per pack of three… Yes, I would consider that a bit pricey for hair ties, but honestly I have to say they’re worth it. I struggle finding elastics that don’t slide out, but don’t leave a kink in my hair, either.
Also, I don’t know about you, but I feel ‘naked’ when I don’t have one on my wrist, but if I’m wearing a nice outfit or at a formal event, wearing an ugly elastic doesn’t exactly look right. That’s why I love these – because they actually enhance an outfit, rather than take away from it.
Seriously though, what’s better than something that’s not only functional, but fashionable, too?
They’re a perfect gift for a fitness fanatic / fashion forward friend, or just a little treat for yourself!
Goodbye Summah
It’s sure been a while, hasn’t it?
I’ve been incredibly busy in the past few weeks with saying bye to my friends, packing, working on my internship, writing a guest post, and figuring out a whole new internship (more on that later).
I don’t have much time today but I wanted to get on here for a little summer wrap up post. I have tons of pics from lately that I want to share, and I want to let you know that even though I want to keep blogging, my priorities will have to change for a little while. My classes, health coaching, the new internship, and my friends will be my focus. Ugh, I hate even saying this because I made this blog this summer and it has become something that I absolutely love to do.
But of course, I will continue working out, eating fun foods, snapping photos and thinking of post ideas – with the hope I will find some time to get on here and share it all with you :).
I move back to school tomorrow and have full day Health Coach training for the rest of the week! And then classes begin next Tuesday…
Back to the old grind. Mehhhhh, not sure how I feel about that. It just feels like one day it was that super relaxed, not-knowing-or-caring-what-day-it-is, and the next it was time to pack up and start a new school year. Oh well, I suppose it’s pretty exciting. I just want to be all settled in and back in a routine. Soon enough!
Alright, that’s all the blabbing I have time for today.
Here are some pics from the end of the sum-sum-summah time.
Cosi Smart Fit Salad. And bread. Gotta have the bread.
The night before the John Mayer concert means trying on outfits and taking awkward mirror selfies.
Guilty as charged… but in my defense my friends and I were figuring out what to wear and sending pics back and forth.
Actually exciting – the new TCBY Silk Chocolate Almond Froyo. I may or may not be obsessed.
Aw, the final froyo date of the summer.
But let’s be honest here, who only eats ice cream in the summer? Not this girl ;).
~~~~~~~~~~

On that note, I’m out (for now)!

Hope you have a wonderful end of your summer! Soak up those last few rays of glorious sun, enjoy a couple more barbecues, and spend quality time with your family and friends while ya can!

Catch ya (hopefully sooner rather than) later 🙂

Week in Photos

Loooong time no see!

I know I’ve been M.I.A. for over a week, so I have no idea where to even begin. The past week has been filled with summer fun – the 4th spent at the beach, lots of time in the sun, some awesome workouts, ahhhmazing eats, and tons of quality time with family and friends. Ain’t nothin’ better.

I would love to recap all my fun days but I’m getting ice cream with some friends in 20 minutes, and I would need a good two hours to write everything I want to talk about! That being said, I’ve had the itch to blog every single day, so I just had to get back on here again while I had the time.

So, without further ado, here is a bit of my past week in iPhotos (in no particular order)!

I finally wore the gray t-shirt dress! I actually wore it another day with the purple and blue J.Crew statement necklace, too! Perfect to throw on for an afternoon shopping trip or out to dinner!

My parents and I spent an evening in Harvard Square after dropping one of my brothers off at Logan Airport. He’s backpacking through Europe with some friends for a month… with just what he has on his back. I couldn’t even pack that light for an overnight trip…

We ate outside at Grendel’s Den in Harvard Square, which I had actually read about on Tina’s blog, Carrots N Cake. I had never really had tofu, so I chose the Salvadoran Vegetables & Tofu with quinoa. I definitely would’ve liked it more with chicken instead of tofu (I decided tofu’s not really my thing), but the veggies and quinoa were awesome and I devoured the whole thing!

I sort of mastered a not so perfect sock bun.

That deliciousness would be a Blue Bunny Birthday Party Premium Ice Cream Sandwich. Speaks for itself.

The boy and I spent the 4th of July at the beach. After a week of nasty, stormy weather, no one could have asked for a more perfect Independence Day.

God Bless this beautiful country.
God Bless America.

The fam and I celebrated one of my other brothers getting a new job with a fancy-shmancy dinner.

Butternut squash bisque and a chopped salad. Delish.

Unfortunately, that’s about all the pictures I took this week :/. I wish I had all the time in the world to blog about all the workouts I did, the yummy food I ate, and the fun memories I made because, trust me, this week was filled with all that good stuff.

*Hopefully I’ll be back to my daily posting routine this coming week. In the meantime, I hope you enjoyed the pics and I hope you enjoy your weekend even more!

Life Is Good

Today really felt like summer.

The day began with an awesome 5 mile run outside before I set out for a hike with four of my friends. Not only was it fun to chat with them as we walked up the steep mountain, but we also got to look at this when we got to the top. It’s things like this that make you realize how good life really is.

After the hike, I spent some time at home working before I went out to The Counter Burger with the boy. I love that place. I always get the veggie burger on a multigrain bun with roasted red peppers, grilled onion, corn and black bean salsa, and tomato. SO messy. SO good.

After digesting I had some Edy’s Salted Caramel Pretzel ice cream mixed with vanilla greek yogurt, as well as some Hershey’s Drops.

I noticed today that I’ve been really digging gold lately. Not digging for gold – digging the gorgeous color. WIthout even thinking about it, I quickly changed into this outfit after the hike, and right as I looked in the mirror I laughed because I chose the same headband as I did a few nights ago, and gold earrings. Guess that’s what I’m into these days!

I didn’t end up wearing those earrings, but this pic shows the successful sock bun! It surprisingly stayed put all night!

gold accessories

Those were the earrings I decided on. Simple gold leaf studs.

So, there ya have it. Little fitness, little food, little fashion, and lots of fun all in one post. Four things that make me one happy girl.
